Aug 2023 — The Bedfordshire Badminton League will be up and running again from late September 2023. Due to Covid and various other challenges, our local league had ceased to run for a few years, however a new committee and some dedicated people means we can once again have competitive badminton between local clubs. This season will see 6 clubs involved and a new website for the county. Dunstable will be entering several teams and very much look forward to lifting the various trophies at the end of the season. :-)
Aug 2023 — Our club has grown rapidly in its inaugural year, so much so that we are now having to introduce a waiting list for new members. It is a tricky balance to manage between the number of members we take in versus keeping our existing membership happy with sufficient games. Watch this space regarding the possibility of adding a third club night as we continue to grow.
Aug 2023 — The club has recently applied for funding to train two members to become level 2 coaches. The goal here is to provide free coaching to the local community who want to start playing or simply improve their game. This is a fairly lengthy process as it will be at least 3 months before we know if the funding has been granted and then between 8 and 12 months to complete the training. We will post updates here on the progress.
Oct 2023 — The league season is under way and a few matches have already taken place. Dunstable A have managed to win their first two matches, an encouraging start to the goal of world domination! ;-). You can follow the progress of the league results by clicking here.
November 2023 — The club now has a qualified level 1 coach who can assist in basic coaching. A level 2 coach will be in place around July 2024 and will be offering free coaching to the community in a free 2-hour session, once per month.
December 2023 — A good end to the year for our two men's 4 league teams as they occupy the top two places in the league table. Some hard matches coming up in January and February, but we are confident in holding on to win the league. January also sees the first match for our Medley team.
January 2024 — A Happy New Year to everyone. Dunstable Badminton Club in collaboration with Houghton Regis Badminton Club will be introducing a Junior Club section around early April 2024. This will be a great opportunity for the younger Bedfordshire badminton players to meet once per week for some fun within a similar age group. This will take place every Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 2pm at the Dunstable Centre. These sessions will incorporate full coaching twice per month. More news to follow soon. February 2024 — The league season for the men's 4 teams is nearly complete, with only a few matches remaining. One more victory and our A team will win the league.
