Dunstable Badminton Club Constitution

A guide for members and officers of the club

Article I: Name and Purpose
The name of this organization shall be the Dunstable Badminton Club. The purpose of this club is to promote the sport of badminton, provide opportunities for recreational and competitive play, and foster a friendly and supportive community among its members.
Article II: Membership and Eligibility
Membership in this club is open to anyone who is interested in badminton and agrees to abide by the club rules and constitution. Members will pay an annual fee to cover the costs of equipment, court rental, and other expenses. Members are also expected to participate in club activities and decisions.
Article III: Officers and Duties
The club shall have the following officers: Chairman, Vice Chairman, Membership Secretary, Finance Manager/Treasurer, League Manager, Welfare Officer, and Social/Commercial Manager. The officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the members at the beginning of each academic year. The officers shall perform the following duties:
• Chairman: The Chairman shall preside over all club meetings and events, represent the club in external affairs, and oversee the general operation and direction of the club.
• Vice Chairman: The Vice Chairman shall assist the Chairman in his or her duties, assume the role of the Chairman in his or her absence, and coordinate the club's activities and programs.
• Membership Secretary: The Membership Secretary shall keep a record of the club's membership, attendance, minutes, and correspondence, and communicate with the members and other parties on behalf of the club.
• Finance Manager/Treasurer: The Finance Manager/Treasurer shall manage the club's finances, collect, and disburse funds, and prepare and present the club's budget and financial reports.
• Social/Commercial Manager: The Social/Commercial manager shall promote the club's image and visibility, maintain the club's website and social media accounts, and organize the club's publicity and outreach efforts.
Article IV: Meetings and Events
The club shall hold regular meetings and events throughout the year, as determined by the officers and the members. The meetings and events shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
• General meetings: General meetings shall be held at least once a quarter, where the officers shall report on the club's progress and plans, and the members shall discuss and vote on club matters and proposals.
• Club sessions: Club sessions shall be held at least twice a week, where the members shall play badminton and improve their skills and techniques.
• Tournaments: Tournaments shall be held periodically, where the members shall compete against each other or against other clubs and teams in a friendly and fair manner.
• Social events: Social events shall be held occasionally, where the members shall bond and have fun with each other and with other badminton enthusiasts.
Article V: Amendments and Dissolution
This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a general meeting, provided that the proposed amendment has been circulated to the members at least one week in advance. The club may be dissolved by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a general meeting, provided that the dissolution has been announced to the members at least one month in advance. In the event of dissolution, the club's assets shall be donated to a charitable organization that supports badminton or sports in general.
